Cold Wax

Exploring textures with oil paint

Cold wax is a natural medium made from beeswax and turpentine essence, mixed with oil paint to transform its texture and finish.
This blend creates a softer, more malleable paint that invites experimentation with layers, transparencies, and glazes.

With cold wax, the paint can be shaped, scraped, or built up, resulting in surfaces rich in texture and expression. Depending on the
proportions and techniques used, artists can achieve glossy, satin, or matte finishes that add depth and character to their work.

It is typically applied using palette knives and rollers, rather than brushes, to enhance the tactile and gestural qualities of the creative
process.
